OBJECT + MOBILE HOME

My project began at the end of the Anthropocene and ended with the idea of a seed.

If I could bring one item into a new world where everything that was familiar was gone, it would be Hemp seeds. I chose hemp seeds because it is light and small, which makes traveling with them a lot less strenuous, and because it can produce over 50,000 products, such as, food, medicine, building materials, writing materials, plastics, and fuel. With one seed, I thought, I could sustain my life as I travel place to place, while also sustaining the life of those sites. My idea came to be the idea of remediating the world. I was to take my hemp seeds and plant them on my journey from place to place. Planting the seeds would provide the start of a new food system, provide the remediation of local soil, clean the air pollution within the area, and start building functions like homes and public service building. With that, I can start a community for people to live in and for people to sustain their own lives.

Then the question was, how would I be able to travel around? I needed to travel with the idea that I needed to visit as many places as possible so that I can start a large enough world, self sustaining, remediation process for the world to live again and start a new familiar.

This answer to my question above came about through the start of part two of our project.

I proposed two mobile homes with two different travel functions, land and water. My first proposal is a high speed “Boat House” and my second proposal is a Growth Pod community. The idea of the boat house came about when thinking of the different continents in the old world and how places are connected by land and water. If I were to travel to every corner of the world I would need a boat that is fast and that I can live and travel on. I wanted to create a mobile home by land that can sustain itself, myself, and start the life of a new place. Than I connected my mobile boat house to my second proposal of the Growth Pod Community. Once I would get to land and discover a new site, I would start to create a self sustaining community of structures, food, paper, and life, to be inhabited and self sustaining. These communities, when starting with one seed and one pod, can grow and connect into hundreds or thousands of growth pods.

This was my idea for entering the new Anthropocene. I would remediate my life, the worlds life, and the life of others through a self sustaining system.
